Dragon Ball Z
is the second part of Akira Toryama's hit manga Dragon Ball. It was retitled Dragon Ball Z in America so readers wouldn't get confused. It is a direct sequel to its predecessor Dragon Ball and follows the story of hero Goku as an adult as he faces some of the strongest enimies the universe has ever seen. The manga spawned an anime of the same name that was arguably more popular than the manga was. The anime followed the same plot as the manga with an exception of filler episodes, which ended up with an entirely new saga known as the Garlic Jr. Saga. Dragon Ball Z has been called the greatest fighting anime of all time. Dragon Ball Z is known to overshadow the original Dragon Ball series.
